NEWSWEP.COM, JAKARTA – 50 people were deployed to extinguish the fire that occurred in tank T39, Paracilin Refinery Complex, PT Pertamina RU IV Cilacap, Central Java.
Area Manager of Communication, Relations, & CSR at RU IV Cilacap-Sub Holding Refining & Petrochemical Pertamina, Hatim Ilwan, said that currently the company is still making efforts to extinguish the remaining fires in the bundwall area.
Cooling measures are also being carried out to prevent the fire from reoccurring.
According to the effort to extinguish the fire, it was carried out using foam spraying towards the hotspots.
“Efforts to extinguish the fire were carried out using foam spraying towards the hotspots. A total of 50 firefighters were dispatched to deal with the fires,” said Hatim Ilwan in a statement received on Friday (11/6/2021) night.
Hatim also ensured that the supply of fuel oil (BBM) remains safe, even though there has been a fire in a tank containing benzene in the Cilacap refinery area, Central Java.

“Despite the fire, Pertamina ensures that the supply of fuel and LPG for the community remains safe,” he said.
Contacted separately, Corporate Secretary of Subholding Refining & Petrochemical, PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (PT KPI), Ifki Sukarya conveyed, the company has not been able to confirm until when the handling of the burning benzene tank is completely safe.

“We can’t predict the time yet, but focus on guarding or controlling the fire so that it is localized,” said Ifki.
The Cilacap refinery is one of 6 Pertamina refineries, and has a processing capacity of 270 thousand barrels per day.
This refinery has about 200 tanks to accommodate crude to be processed, gas and fuel from crude oil processing.
