At first glance, the Hyatt Regency Lisbon, which marks the debut in its own name of the sixty-year-old brand in Portugal, gives us the impression of a citadel erected a stone’s throw from the river, providentially next to the former FIL. And, inside, it also gives us the impression that there seems to be no lack of space or attractions. On the other hand, there is a certain sense that we are entering a luxury condominium – which is not entirely unreasonable, since it is also a real estate investment, with apartments sold to private individuals, with Hyatt in charge of the hotel. Don’t think, however, that we feel like strangers in a foreign land, quite the contrary, not least because the spirit and architecture are open. “It’s a hotel that opens itself up to ‘neighbours’, to Lisbon residents”, proclaims Hélder Martins, general manager of this first Hyatt aircraft carrier in the country.
