Verdão drew 0-0 with Bahia on Tuesday night (12), in Salvador, for the 26th round of the Brazilian Championship.
On the night of this Tuesday (12), Bahia e palm trees tied 0-0 at Arena Fonte Nova, for the 26th round of the Brazilian championship. Verdão’s performance left something to be desired, especially in the second stage, when Jaílson made several interventions and prevented the defeat of Palmeira in Salvador. At the post-match press conference, what caught the most attention was a message from coach Abel Ferreira to Renato Gaúcho, Flamengo’s commander.
Last Saturday (9), after Rubro-Negro’s 3-0 victory over Fortaleza, Renato sent a message to a journalist, without mentioning his name, who reportedly gave incorrect information about the absences of Diego Alves and Bruno Henrique of the match. Abel endorsed his words, and said he would have four more names to “deliver”.
“I didn’t want to end this interview without giving my friend Renato Gaúcho a hug, and telling him that I have four names, because I saw his last press conference, and I like him, I think he’s one of the best Brazilian coaches. When you say the names of the journalists, tell me, I’ll call you to give you four more names”, said the Portuguese.
He even criticized the Brazilian press, defending “serious journalism”: “Because we need to do serious, true journalism, to criticize, but to tell the truth. We live our life with the truth. And so, Renato, we talk later. On the field we argue, we fight for the victory of our teams, but I have here are four more names to give you, so when you talk, you can talk about four more”.
Both were face to face recently, in the final of the Copa do Brasil, between Palmeiras and Grêmio, in which Verdão won. On November 27 this year, there will be another clash between Abel and Renato, in the grand final of the Copa Libertadores, between the São Paulo team and Flamengo.
