With an increase in vaccination and a drop in deaths caused by the covid-19 pandemic, the wakes begin to return to normal order. According to Sesau (Municipal Health Department), there are no longer restrictions on duration or limit of guests in most cases.

The farewell ritual for people who died of coronavirus after hospitalization – less than ten days in mild cases and less than 20 days in serious situations – can now be performed normally. There are also no rules regarding deaths caused by other diseases.

The restrictions follow only for death due to coronaviruses in the acute phase of the disease.

In March 2020, a few days after the confirmation of the first cases of covid-19 in Mato Grosso do Sul, wakes began to take place in a maximum of two hours and limited to ten people.

Later, with the increase in cases, covid victims were buried without a wake.
