After firing the coach, Banfield made another drastic decision with the women's Futsal team: withdrew him from the tournament

The scandal in the women’s futsal does not stop. After the unsportsmanlike conduct of the Banfield players, who scored four goals against to lose the game against Gimnasia and avoid a less complicated crossing in the playoffs, the club decided to withdraw the team from the AFA tournament. What’s more, now it was known that They could initiate legal action for damages to the club to the coach, who was thrown out after the unfortunate performance.

Eduardo Spinosa, brand new president of the Drill, announced through his social networks the statement and what was decided by the Board of Directors.

What happened was very serious and it is precisely the opposite of the ethical and sporting values that we promote in our Institution who has 125 years of glory and a pioneer in Argentine soccer. Dismissing the DT, the main person responsible for the events, does not seem to us a sufficient measure, since it does not make sense to qualify for the playoffs in the way that was achieved, ”says the note that is signed by several club leaders.

In addition, it indicates that the club will respect the sanctions that the AFA may impose, and even FIFA, which is also investigating the issue: “We submit to the eventual sanctions that the Disciplinary Court stipulates just for the situation of public knowledge.”

Finally, the statement indicates that will continue to work so that these unsportsmanlike behaviors do not reoccur and so that the history of the club is respected.

“Banfield is way above the people and the situation of a tournament; and anyone who wears our shield on their chest should know what that honor means. We will work on the containment and education of our athletes and we will continue to promote from our Club the values that made BANFIELD a respected, honorable institution and an example for Argentine soccer and sports ”, he concludes.

Legal actions to the fired DT

The president of Banfield, Eduardo Spinosa, said in dialogue with TyC Sports that the Board of Directors is evaluating “initiating a legal action for damages to the club” against the fired coach, Mariano Vila.

In the previous one, the DT had recognized the unsportsmanlike attitude and justified it: “We had a very clear objective, with something that we had worked on and prepared in the week. We had prepared everything in the week, but we found something totally different from the rival and well, as you go you have to think and decide what to do and there is the end of the game ”, he said without directly mentioning his embarrassing decision.

The unusual explanation of the coach of Banfield’s women’s futsal, Mariano Vila (Interview Matías Isaac).

These statements did not go down well with the leadership of the Drill who decided to dismiss the coach and his coaching staff.

“The explanation that the technician gave was not reasonable or justifiable and that is why he was fired,” said Spinoza.

Banfield, who won 2 to 0 against Gimnasia, scored four goals against to be able to benefit in the quarterfinal instance, where, with that result, he would have a more accessible rival than Estudiantes de Caseros, the great rival to beat. Thus, he found that he had an advantage against a less powerful opponent, thinking about an eventual qualification to the final of the tournament and thus ensuring the promotion, guaranteed for the two finalist teams.
