Berlin / Offenburg – Bundestag President Wolfgang Schäuble (79) wants to attend the planned special party conference of CDU no longer stand for election for the federal executive committee.
“He is not available for a candidacy for the federal executive committee of his party,” said a spokesman for Schäuble on Tuesday when asked. The newspapers of the Funke media group had previously reported on it.
The 79-year-old wants to stay in the Bundestag for the full legislative period; in his constituency in Offenburg he won the direct mandate again in the election.
“He intends to exercise the direct mandate for the full electoral term,” said the spokesman.
