A heart muscle inflammation in Alphonso Davies has caused a new low point in the Munich corona madness of the past few weeks. Coach Julian Nagelsmann commented on the case.
Munich – Alphonso Davies will be absent from FC Bayern Munich for a longer period of time after his corona infection due to an inflammation of the heart muscle. “He’s out until further notice and won’t be available for the next few weeks,” said coach Julian Nagelsmann on Friday. The Munich coach said that the illness was “not that dramatic”. In examinations of the corona infection, however, signs of myocardial inflammation were found. “It still has to heal and that definitely takes a while,” said Nagelsmann.
Nagelsmann: “He’s got it – that’s modest to shitty”
The trainer was unable to say whether the heart muscle inflammation was a corona consequence. But of course there is a probability, although the cause is currently not relevant. “He’s got it – that’s modest to shitty, to extremely shitty,” said the 34-year-old.
At the unsuccessful start to the football year with the 1: 2 against Borussia Mönchengladbach, Nagelsmann had to do without a total of 13 professionals. Among them were nine players who recently tested positive around captain Manuel Neuer. The goalkeeper is one of the players who will return in the away game against 1. FC Köln on Saturday. Back in the squad are Dayot Upamecano, Omar Richards, Leroy Sané, Tanguy Nianzou and Corentin Tolisso.
