BUENOS AIRES, May 4 (Reuters) – Argentina’s 2021/22 wheat harvest is expected to reach 19 million tons, equaling the 2018/19 season cereal production record, the Buenos Aires Cereal Exchange said on Tuesday. Aires (BdeC).

Argentina is a key world wheat exporter and the production of the new season, whose sowing will begin in the coming weeks, will exceed the 17 million harvested in the 2020/21 season.

“Wheat maintains its sown area and aims to match the production record achieved during the 18/19 cycle,” the BdeC said on its Twitter account.

At the end of April, the Stock Exchange had indicated that it expects a 2021/22 wheat area of ​​6.5 million hectares, as in the previous season, sustained by high cereal prices and good levels of humidity in the soil.
