The matches in the English league continue to be suspended due to the constant infections by coronavirus within the English teams. Therefore, the Premier League accepted this Saturday the request for postponement made by the Arsenal about the match he was going to play against Tottenham.

Arsenal requested the suspension of the game since it did not have enough players fit to face Tottenham on Sunday for matchday 22 of the English championship, which was scheduled for 11:30 am (Peruvian time).

“Following the request made by Arsenal, the Premier League board of directors met and agreed to postpone the match against Tottenham that was to be played on Sunday”, wrote the organizer of the English championship in his announcement.

There are several players that Arsenal has not been able to count on, some for having tested positive for Covid-19, others for being injured and some are participating in the African Cup.

Players like Thomas Partey (Ghana) and Mohamed Elneny (Egypt) are with their national teams, while Granit Xhaka is injured. The ‘Gunners’ do not have the 13 players, one of them a goalkeeper, who represent the minimum number to play a game, adds the statement.

Mikel Arteta had referred, before the decision of the Premier League, about the possibility of postponing the North London derby: “We were worried before the Liverpool game, but after playing we had more problems. We have not been able to assess the status of the squad because we could not fly last night. We have arrived at the sports city and now they are treating the boys, so we don’t know”.
