Barcelona had two objectives this season: to renew Pedri’s contracts and Ansu Fati. The first of them has already been achieved, after the flyer extends its link with the institution until 2026. The second is still missing; however, everything indicates that the conversations with the player are on the right track.
Jorge Mendes, the attacker’s agent, and Barza go ahead; however, the club is confident that the footballer will continue in the squad next season. They see him motivated and eager to accept new challenges alongside Ronald Koeman.
As revealed by Mundo Deportivo, Ansu told his representative that “he will only play for Barcelona.” The player’s family was also present at the meeting, which the footballer always takes into account when making decisions. Fati made it clear that his goal is to renew.
Those of the Camp Nou can extend the contract unilaterally for two more years but they are clear that the best thing would be to negotiate an extension and an improvement of that contract in four years, the footballer’s file and the termination clause.
Ansu and Mendes talked at length at the meeting mentioned by the Spanish media. After the meeting between the two, the Barza football director, Mateu Alemany, informed them that there is a current proposal. The negotiation continues.
Salary increase for Fati?
According to information from José Álvarez, a reporter for the Spanish program, the also representative of Cristiano Ronaldo is looking for a way to break the clause that stipulates that Barcelona can unilaterally renew Ansu’s contract until mid-2024.
Obviously, the president Joan Laporta is very interested in continuing to count on Fati, but due to the club’s financial crisis, he cannot offer the young footballer a large salary increase compared to the 600,000 euros he pockets per season.
The Barcelona president’s proposal does not satisfy Jorge Mendes, who, according to the aforementioned media, has already met with Bori Fati, Ansu’s father, to communicate the Barça club’s position on the renewal of the 18-year-old footballer.
