Bastien on the shelves of the New England Revolution

Luka Elsner called for reinforcements, he received no less than four in as many days. After Cafaro, Van Damme and Dewaele, it was Renaud Emond who came to swell the ranks of Liège. All the new recruits took part in the sessions on Thursday and will be well qualified for the Clasico on Sunday.

If Standard is still trying to strengthen its left flank, both defensively and offensively, it will above all have to downsize its core to save unnecessary salaries, like that of an Aleksandar Boljevic that everyone has forgotten but who still figures in the club payroll.

Nicolas Gavory left Sclessin this week and he could well be emulated by other Rouches in the coming days. According to our information, Samuel Bastien, one of the most used players this season, is arousing the interest of several teams and in particular the New England Revolution in MLS.

It is this same club which, in 2018, offered 4M € for Paul-José Mpoku. Having become a Congolese international, Samuel Bastien still has a year and a half contract with Standard which, if he wants to realize a capital gain, has every interest in selling it this winter.

Emond’s return reshuffles the cards

On the attacking front, Elsner now has five attackers: Tapsoba, Dragus, Klauss, Muleka and Emond. The return of the latter clearly redistributes the cards and the hierarchy of attackers has changed. A hierarchy within which Jackson Muleka could retreat given his playing time under the direction of the Franco-Slovenian. What to provoke a departure? The answer in the coming days.
