This year, no less than eleven Belgians are participating in the final phase of the PDC Qualifying School (12-15 January). A tournament is played every day and the four winners receive a tour card. Brian Raman won the second tournament on Thursday and secured a spot at the highest level for 2022 and 2023.

Mario Vandenbogaerde missed that opportunity on day one, but has been playing very well for a whole week. To his final on Wednesday and 1/8th final on Thursday, he added a final on Friday, which he lost 6-4 to Dutchman Luc Peters. As a result, the 48-year-old West Flemish has already gathered enough points to finish among the eleven highest-ranked darts players of the European qualifying tournament, who also force a tour card for the next two seasons.

Immediately good for Belgian darts history, because no fewer than six compatriots had a permanent place on the PDC Pro Tour before. In addition to Raman and Vandenbogaerde, these are Dimitri Van den Bergh, Kim Huybrechts, Mike De Decker and Geert De Vos.
