Benfica beat Fonte do Bastardo by 3-0 this Sunday in the final of the Portuguese men’s volleyball Cup, held in Viana do Castelo, lifting the trophy for the 20th time in its history.
The “incarnates”, commanded by Marcel Matz, achieved triumph at the Cultural Center of Viana do Castelo by partials of 25-21, 25-19 and 25-18, beating the Azoreans, coached by Nuno Abrantes.
It is the 20th title of champion of the Cup, the second in a row, for Benfica, a record record in the competition that has now won eight times since 2010.
Fonte do Bastardo, who also lost the final to the “eagles” in 2021/22, were looking for their second title, after 2012/13.
