Manhunt

Manhunt

The Dutch program Hunted got a bizarre denouement Monday evening. The detectives arrested a man who was really wanted by the police.

The aim of the program Hunted, the Dutch counterpart of the Flemish Play4 programme manhunt, is that participants stay out of the hands of professional investigators for as long as possible. Two participants, Bijan and Shiva, arrived in Venlo on Monday evening and tried to collect money there. But the police sirens were already sounding in the background. When the duo tries to flee, they are checked by real cops. But because they are not really wanted, they were soon allowed to continue their journey. Although the team of investigators of the program does arrive at that moment because of the transaction at the bank. They search the area and address a suspicious young man who is on the phone. At that moment, the man runs off.

The team picks up the man, but he turns out not to be one of the participants. But his behavior does cause suspicion among the investigators. In real life they are part of the police and defense and therefore do not trust the situation. They therefore contact the Venlo police who confirm that the man complies with a search warrant. (sgg)
