The cause of death of 46-year-old Mikhail Zelensky, who died on vacation in the Dominican Republic, was not a stroke, but a heart attack: a heart attack was confirmed at the Russian Embassy in Venezuela (and concurrently in the Dominican Republic). As it turned out, on January 11, the TV presenter suddenly felt bad: with the support of his wife, he reached the medical aid station at the hotel, but fell right at the entrance. The emergency doctors at the local emergency room could no longer do anything – it was too late. Zelensky passed away in a matter of minutes.

However, a heart attack does not always lead to fatal consequences. There is salvation from a heart attack and is successfully used all over the world. But the main thing here is time. Unfortunately, Zelenskiy had too little of it.

– Depending on individual characteristics, a heart attack can develop from several seconds to several hours, – explained to kp.ru cardiologist, doctor of medical sciences Yuri Konev. – More chances of survival, of course, in patients with long-term symptoms: this gives time for the use of drugs. There is a method that has proven to be very effective, it is called thrombolysis – this is a specific therapy that destroys the thrombotic process. The patient is injected with special substances that dissolve the blood clot: only this can urgently solve the problem. The sooner this manipulation is carried out, the greater the chances of saving the patient. By the way, thrombolysis was once discovered by our outstanding scientist and cardiologist Yevgeny Chazov, who was then repeatedly nominated for the Nobel Prize.

According to the expert, thrombolysis is used in Russia not only in hospitals, but also in ambulances for suspected myocardial infarction.

– I think that this method is also used in the Dominican Republic – it is known all over the world. Most likely, the doctors of the ambulance that came to Mikhail Zelensky were also ready to conduct thrombolysis, the cardiologist noted. – But in this case, apparently, all the negative factors came together: blood clotting, and the ability to form blood clots, and lightning-fast symptoms … The doctors simply did not have enough time to save him.

MEANWHILE

Friend of Mikhail Zelensky: “His ridiculous death should force people after 40 to see a doctor”

Therapist-cardiologist, as well as TV and radio presenter Konstantin Ivanov was personally acquainted with Mikhail Zelensky:

“This is a monstrous tragedy,” Ivanov shared with kp.ru. – A young man left, infinitely talented and very sincere – I speak about this not only as a doctor, but also as a journalist. I would not like to talk about his death, but I want to emphasize that, unfortunately, an early heart attack is no longer news, especially in men. Although 15-20 years ago, we considered it to be some kind of casuistry. I would really like this ridiculous death to serve as a signal for people after 40 years that it is necessary to conduct examinations or, at least, turn to a specialist who will tell you which check you need to go through. There is at least the SCORE scale – it assesses the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease over the next 10 years.

When it comes to emergency rescue of heart attack patients, the golden hour rule also applies. In case of acute coronary syndrome, we deliver the patient to the clinic, where we look at the vessels, and if there are, in simple terms, narrowings, we carry out stenting: we put a mesh in the vessels, thereby opening them. Unfortunately, this is not always possible. There is a very large damage to the myocardium, the so-called cardiogenic shock occurs instantly and it is very difficult to pull out a person. But so that we do not fall into despondency, despite this tragedy, I will note: cardiology has made a huge step forward. Now it’s up to the patients to take care of their health.
