Carla Bolito likes “impossible theatrical missions”. She likes to throw herself at materials that were not intended for the stage, which were imagined as a literary expression, and excavate a scenic dimension in them. It was such a revelation, when reading a text and thinking to herself “this would make a spectacle”, that assailed her a few years ago, when her eyes were drooping over the pages of Letters from Casanova, Lisbon 1757an epistolary novel in which António Mega Ferreira places the gallant and provocative Italian character visiting a Lisbon still stunned by the 1755 earthquake.
