Science continues to work to find a way to end the Pandemic COVID-19 that has plagued the world for almost two years. The results of a preliminary US study on the combination of vaccines has shed new light on antibody production.
This is an investigation – sponsored by the United States Government on the effects of mixing different vaccines as booster doses. In the study, in which more than 450 people participated, the effects of administering the booster inoculation of Modern Inc. (mRNA-1237), Pfizer Inc.- BioNTech SE (BNT162b2) y Johnson & Johnson (Janssen Ad26.COV2.S).
Preliminary results published on the portal medRxiv.org made it clear that the combination of COVID-19 vaccines produces as many or more antibodies than using the same vaccine as a booster. That is, the application of vaccines Moderna, Pfizer o Johnson & Johnson as reinforcement gave more antibodies to the participants, compared to those who received three vaccines of the same brand (two in the case of J&J).
“They gave booster doses, but they crossed them. That is, those who had received the two doses of Moderna initially completed their vaccination. One group received a reinforcement from Moderna, another from Pfizer, and another from Johnson & Johnson to see which of the two was better reinforcement “, explained this afternoon Dr. Elmer Huerta, specialist in Public Health, at RPP.
It should be noted that the people who participated in the trial had not previously been infected with SARS-CoV-2 and that these booster vaccines increased activity by neutralizing a pseudovirus.
More information about the study will be revealed in an advisory panel of the FDA (Food and Medicine Administration) of USA on Friday, October 15 in the afternoon, where the researchers will give more conclusions from their study.
