COVID in Guanajuato: San José Iturbide Fair suspended due to high rate of infections

León, Guanajuato.- The 2022 San José de Iturbide Fair was suspended due to the high rate of COVID infections in Guanajuato that were confirmed in the last days.

This was reported by alcaldesa Cindy Arvizu and the head of the board of trustees Ángel Monjaraz, who made the decision not to hold the Fair, since the activities that would make up this edition could not be carried out in a normal way.

This year San José de Iturbide celebrates 268 years of its foundationHowever, in order not to miss the celebration, it was announced that on February 5 there will be cultural and civic events.

The statement issued by the Federal Government announced that the main reason is the high number of infections confirmed by the Guanajuato Health Secretariat (SSG).

Although the suspension has already been confirmed, it was highlighted that it does not mean the cancellation of the Fair, since The Municipal Administration and the Board of Trustees will reschedule when the infections have decreased.

Regarding the realization of concerts, it was stated that “if there will be some presentations by artists, which are the groups already agreed and who received an advance from the businessman, they will be announced later and they must comply with the health measures and capacity”, they reported authorities.

Therefore, citizens were invited to respect health measures, since it will depend on whether this event can be held for the date contemplated.
