While most of the baccalaureate exams take place in June, Terminale students start this session with their first exams being those relating to their two specialty courses. According to the dates announced by the Ministry of National Education, these 2022 bac exams must take place from March 14 to 16. But given the difficulties related to Covid-19, Jean-Michel Blanquer indicated that he would “do an analysis with representative organizations” in order to “see if it is appropriate to have a postponement of these tests from March to June“.

Bac 2022: what is changing?

For this new session, the modalities of next general and technological baccalaureate diploma will be adjusted. The evaluation of each of the courses and disciplines is however clarified: henceforth, none of them is evaluated cumulatively by the continuous control and by the terminal control, the Ministry of National Education said in a July 9 press release. The objective: to strengthen the new bac, and to encourage high school students to get involved throughout the school year. Concerning the specialties lessons, the content of the programs will be recalibrated to better adapt to the progress of students’ learning.

What are the dates of the 2022 bac?

Dates of the general and technological baccalaureate :

  • The tests relating to the two specialty courses followed in the final year will take place from March 14 to March 16, 2022. They could nevertheless be postponed until June, announced Jean-Michel Blanquer on January 13.

  • The students will pass the Grand oral between June 20 and July 1, 2022.

  • The professional tests are subject to a specific and variable calendar depending on the specialty concerned.

Dates of the French bac 2022

The anticipated written French exams will take place on Thursday, June 16, 2022, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

When will the results of the bac take place?

Bac 2022: what coefficients?

Final or anticipated tests

Out of the 100 coefficients, 60 would be obtained in the framework of anticipated tests or final tests:

  • The anticipated tests of the French bac at the end of the first class (written, coefficient 5; oral, coefficient 5);
  • The two tests for specialty lessons followed in terminal (coefficient 16 for each of them);
  • The philosophy (coefficient 8 in general, 4 in technology);

Continuous monitoring coefficients

40 of these coefficients would be obtained with the continuous control calculated according to the student’s general average, which takes into account the year averages of the school report cards of the final cycle.

  • All the subjects of the common core which are not the subject of final examinations (modern languages ​​A and B, history-geography, physical and sports education, scientific education for the general route, mathematics for the technological route) would have a coefficient of 6 (3 in 1st, 3 in 12th grade);
  • Specialty education (abandoned at the end of the first year) would have a coefficient of 8 (ie half of the specialty education retained by the candidate in the final year);
  • Moral and civic education will have a coefficient of 2 (1 in first, 1 in final). It contributes to the acquisition of the values ​​of the Republic and secularism, and will thus be distinguished in the evaluation.

Are common assessments deleted?

Yes, the Ministry of National Education indeed wishes replace these common assessments with “continuous monitoring more flexible, supporting learning and conducted within the classroom. ”Equal treatment of pupils must nevertheless be preserved, in particular by distributing national benchmarks to teaching teams.

Continuous monitoring is based on the annual averages of the results obtained during the terminal cycle by candidates enrolled in public education and in private education under contract. It will also be taken into account as part of the Parcoursup orientation procedure. In order for the continuous assessment to be fair between the students, teachers will be trained, and an assessment guide, developed by the General Inspectorate for Education, Sport and Research, will be extended from the first class and available from the start of the school year in September 2021.

The Grand oral covers two specialties courses. During the 20 minutes of preparation for the Grand oral (first part of the test with a 5-minute presentation), students can take notes and use them for the oral exercise. During the second part of the test (interview), “the candidate can use a medium, such as a table, to illustrate or explain his remarks (to put an equation, sketch a map, etc.)”.

Tray adjustments: from when?

“These adjustments concerning the entire terminal cycle would be fully implemented for the 2023 session of the general and technological baccalaureates” specific ministry. However, part of these modifications will be implemented for the 2022 baccalaureate. Indeed, the optional courses will be taken into account up to 2 coefficients from this year. Moral and civic education for final year students will be evaluated at 1%, and the final assessment tests (philosophy and specialties teaching) will not be taken into account in the continuous assessment.
