If the first project proves to be a success, Moore will then ‘build out the Magic Kingdom universe’ and oversee the entire franchise.

The franchise is said to be similar to how Moore built out Battlestar Galactica for Syfy, which included several spin-offs and other projects, and how Marvel is connecting their new TV shows to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The news comes just weeks after Moore left his longtime overall deal at Sony Pictures Television for a new deal at Disney-owned 20th Century Fox Television.

While Moore spent a decade at Sony, and fielded several offers from other streaming services and studios, but he decided to go with Disney because of his passion for the studio and the brand.

‘I decided to go there mostly because my childhood was built around a lot of things that were Disney. I am a huge fan and aficionado of the Disneyland park in Anaheim to the point where I would go there by myself periodically and ride the rides,’ he said.
