The Swedish athlete Armand Duplantis improved this Saturday the pole vault world record, which already belonged to him, by setting a new maximum of 6.22 meters at the All Star Pole, in Clermont-Ferrand.
Duplantis reinforced by one centimeter the mark he already had since last year, when, on July 24, 2022, he became world champion, in Eugene, United States, and now he has reached 6.22 meters, on the third attempt, after of two null trials.
Australian Kuris Marschall was second, with 5.91 meters, a personal best, and Dutchman Menno Vloon was third, with the same height recorded.
The Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion, and the world champion in 2022, has held the discipline’s record since 2020, when he reached 6.17 meters in Torun, Poland, at the European indoor track, and has been improving the record ever since.
The Frenchman Renaud Lavillenie, who had the previous maximum of 6.16 meters, organizes the All Star Perche (Road), in Clermont-Ferrand.
“It’s incredible, I don’t even know what to say. (…) Breaking this world record with Renaud is incredible. I would never be able to jump so high if it weren’t for him”, declared the 23-year-old, in homage, after achieving the record.

The Swedish athlete born in the United States has always jumped above six meters in 2023, but has decided not to participate in the “indoor” Europeans, which take place between Thursday and March 5 in Istanbul, Turkey.
