This week the Swedish band surprised their fans with special news. And it is that within the framework of the celebration of one of their most beloved albums “ABBA Gold”, the band will make a new release. And in Rock and Pop we tell you everything we know.
What do we know about the new version of ABBA’s second studio album?
Abba announced a new 30th anniversary version of his “Abba Gold” greatest hits collection. With more than 32 million sales worldwide, “Gold” is one of the most successful releases in music history.
It is worth mentioning that “Gold” has a special history with the United Kingdom. And it is the second best-selling album of all time, spending more than 1055 weeks on the country’s official album chart. Making it the longest-running album in the Top 100 on the official album chart.
That’s why the ABBA decided that the 1992 hits collection of iconic Swedes Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad will be relaunched exactly three decades after it first topped the UK charts.
So, to commemorate 30 years of its launch, a limited edition collection will be launched on September 23, a version in new formats. Which will feature a 2LP Picture Disc version on heavy vinyl, submitted in die-cut folding cover. Plus a gold and black cassette.
The special limited edition ABBA collection will also be available to pre-order at select physical stores. Additionally, the band teased that there will be more ABBA anniversary updates in the coming months, as well as the ongoing series of new lyric videos on the quartet’s official YouTube channel.
