Border gate remains closed in protest of repatriations

Juana Mendez-Haiti,- With the aim of stopping the deportations of Haitians who are in Dominican territory, an alleged group defending human rights keeps the border gate between Juana Méndez and Dajabón closed for the second day.

The protesters led by Emmanuel Joseph, closed the door yesterday Monday with chains and padlocks and later welded it with electrical machines to prevent it from being reopened and its own citizens crossed the loads they had acquired since the day before in the market of Dajabón.

With these protests, dozens of trucks woke up stopped with products and merchandise in Juana Méndez, running the risk of being damaged.

Faced with this situation that is reflected on the other side of the border, the Specialized Corps for Land Border Security (Cesfront), the Army and other State security agencies have increased the presence of their personnel in the area to avoid any type of violation of Dominican laws.

While the members of the migration control team of the General Directorate of Migration continue operations to arrest illegal immigrants in farms, houses, military checkpoints and wandering the streets and highways of the area.

The detainees are taken to the shelter center in the Beller fortress in Dajabón, where they are fed, the children assisted by the National Council for Children and Adolescents (Conani), in the place where they are purged to be repatriated to their territory.
