Chandler Riggs in The Walking Dead finale

The Walking Dead finale is behind us. For many fans there was a warm reunion with their favorite series in the 24th episode of the 11th season. But most people will have overlooked one. Carl Grimes actor Chandler Riggs was hidden in one scene.

In one of the last scenes in Hilltop, he has a brief appearance as a farmer working in the background. Riggs hadn’t actually planned to return in front of the TWD cameras, it was just happened to be on set to say hello to his old buddies. Series creator Angela Kang explained Entertainment Weekly :

Riggs was in the area and wanted to see his old friends again. I had a great time with him on set […]. Then they needed extras in the background from a few scenes and [Regisseur] Greg [Nicotero] said: “Do you want to try it? Come on, stand back there!”

He didn’t even change his clothes and just put on a hat, Riggs also told the media site. The Walking Dead fans will appreciate his brief cameo, although they may have missed it the first time. Young Carl Grimes was one of the show’s most popular characters until his demise in Season 8.
