Santo Domingo.- Ezequiel Duran homered, scored two runs and drove in three runs to lead a four-homer attack by the Águilas Cibaeñas, who defeated the Estrellas Orientales 12-7 this Saturday in the Dominican winter baseball championship.

With this victory, the Cibaeño team has won the five games it has played against the stars in the current season. Johan Camargo joined the Águilas party with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs,

Aneury Tavares, homers, scored twice and drove in a lap, and Wilmer Difó, with a four-base hit, stepped on the plate once and led two laps to the scoreboard. The reliever Nick Hernández (2-1) worked a scoreless inning to win the match held at the Cibao stadium in Santiago (north).

For the Stars, Edward Olivares homered and brought four runs to the register, while Matthew Batten drove in two runs to be the best offensive team for the losers. Radhames Liz (0-2) could not contain the bats of the cibaeños, who attacked him with three runs in three innings, taking the loss for the greens.

LIONS 2-1 GIANTS

Elier Hernández hit a home run in the fifth episode that gave the Leones del Escogido the definitive advantage, who beat the Gigantes del Cibao 2-1, at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal stadium, in Santo Domingo.

Right-hander Humberto Mejía (3-0) pitched a quality game, completing six one-run innings and striking out two batters to win his third game of the winter tournament.

Gerson Bautista (1) threw 1.1 innings with three strikeouts to earn the save for the long-haired men. José Siri scored the only run for the Giants in the game. Pedro Fernández (1-3) went five innings and allowed two runs, striking out three and ended up losing the game to the Colts.

BULLS 3-1 TIGERS

Ronny Simón and Vidal Bruján each scored and drove in a run as the Toros del Este won the 3-1 victory against the Tigres del Licey, at the Francisco Micheli stadium, in La Romana (east). The Bulls extended their winning streak to three, the best in the tournament at this time.

Eagles

Bryan De La Cruz added a run for the La Romana team and reliever Jasseel De La Cruz (1-0) went 1.1 scoreless innings to win the game. Veteran closer Fernando Abad (5) struck out two batters in the ninth to keep the ransom.

César Valdez started for the Tigers and pitched six one-run innings to go no-decision in the no-decision game. Aaron Brown (0-1) allowed one run in one inning of work and was defeated by the cats. Michael De La Cruz produced the only score for the Tigers in the game.

For this Sunday, the Tigers receive the Eagles in Santo Domingo, while the Bulls will travel to San Francisco de Macorís (northeast) to play with the Giants and the Lions to San Pedro de Macorís (east) to face the Stars.
