“Niklaus Mikaelson has always been there in my head and in my heart.”
We have known for several weeks that Legacies will end and thus put an end to 13 years of the saga Vampire Diaries. And today, Joseph Morgan confirms that a historical character from the franchise will pass a good farewell. Klaus will appear in the very last episode.
“If you had the chance to say a final goodbye to the child you love more than anything, would you?” he wrote on Instagram in a somewhat dubious analogy.
“I don’t know if I have permission to do this, but I need it, I want to be honest with you. Anyway, you’re going to see Klaus again in the last episode of Legacies. Just for a moment. That’s it, you know it now.”
Joseph Morgan goes on to explain that he’s not doing this for him or for Klaus. “It’s a family matter. Family is power. It’s about a father and his daughter, their relationship, what he thinks he owes her. That’s what it’s about. So there was a very secret, very clandestine scene that we recorded.”
A bit later, Joseph Morgan shared another video in which he explains that “since i left The Originals, I remained attached to the franchise. And Niklaus Mikaelson has always been there in my head and in my heart. And you were amazing. You didn’t let go. You know, I’ve been asked again and again to make an appearance in Legacies and it never went well…until now. Today I feel good. I hope you enjoy it and feel as passionate as I do. This is for you guys.”
Recall that Morgan played Klaus, a vampire-werewolf hybrid, for more than 2 seasons on The Vampire Diaries (2011-2013) before having his own series, The Originals for 5 seasons (2013-2018). Klaus had made a comeback of sorts in a Season 4 episode of Legacieswhen it was revealed that the Mikaelson family had used magic to recover his ashes.
