Bruce Campbell in Spider-Man 2

Almost all Marvel cameos in Doctor Strange 2 take place in what is known as Universe 838. This is where Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and American Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) end up as they flee the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) through the multiverse.

In this seemingly utopian reality we meet the street vendor Pizza Poppa, which should look familiar to Marvel fans. It is a guest appearance by Bruce Campbell. The lead man in Sam Raimi’s Devil’s Dance franchise has had cameos in all three of Raimi’s Spider-Man films, starring Tobey Maguire.

With the appearance of Black agar Boltagon aka Black Bolt finds the forgotten and hated Marvel series by many fans inhumans first mentioned in the MCU. Anson Mount once again plays the king of beings endowed with supernatural abilities.

This time, however, we can admire Black Bolt in his iconic comic costume and tuning fork helmet. Generating extreme sound waves with his hypersonic voice, he remains mute most of the time. Black Bolt is also the first Illuminati member to die. Cause of death: crushed head.

Marvel Surprise 3. Hayley Atwell as Captain Carter

The animated series What If…? presented us with a reality where not Steve Rogers but Peggy Carter is injected with the superhero serum and later when Captain Carter wields the vibranium shield. The superhumanly strong Peggy aka Captain Carter also exists in the Illuminati universe, played here again by Hayley Atwell.

Fans can rejoice when Captain Carter delivers the iconic Steve Roger quote “I can do this all day” gives. Shortly thereafter, however, comes the big shock: Captain Carter is in the fight against Wanda bisected with their own shield.

What happened if Maria Rambeau instead of Carol Danvers would have become a powerful super being with the energy of the Tesseract? Doctor Strange 2 provides the answer. Captain Marvel’s Lashana Lynch returns as Maria Rambeau. She is Captain Marvel of the Illuminati Universe. However, while fighting Wanda, she is killed by a giant statue.

For years, Marvel fans have wanted John Krasinski (The Office, A Quiet Place) to play the Fantastic 4 leader Reed Richards to see. Doctor Strange 2 finally grants that wish and marks the first time a Fantastic 4 member has appeared in an MCU film. In the classic Mister Fantastic comic outfit we get to see the ingenious scientist with the polymorphic powers as a member of the Illuminati.

Unfortunately, we rarely see his skills in action. The Scarlet Witch does not hesitate long and processed Reed Richards into human spaghetti. But at least Wanda makes sure beforehand that his mentioned children will not be orphaned by his death. Mama Sue Storm will have to raise them alone in the future.

But no worry, Reed Richards will be back soon. Marvel is already working on an MCU remake of the Fantastic Four, which should appear in the next few years. It is not yet known whether Krasinski will be seen there again as Mister Fantastic.

Instead, Patrick Stewart mimics a variant of Professor X, reminiscent of the Animated series from the 1990s is leaning against – including the yellow floating chair.
