Metal festival Wacken becomes a streaming series

It’s booming again over Wacken’s meadows. After two summers of a corona-related break, one of the world’s largest heavy metal festivals will take place in Schleswig-Holstein until Saturday. The small village festival with 800 visitors in 1990 has become a huge event.

The story of the founders of the W:O:A, Thomas Jensen and Holger Hübner, who have made their dream come true despite setbacks, is now making RTL+ a six-part series. Filming is also currently taking place at the festival.

Charly Hübner and Aurel Manthei can be seen in the lead roles. The younger versions of the two W:O:A founders are played by Sammy Scheuritzel and the Austrian actor Sebastian Doppelbauer. Katharina Wackernagel, Marc Hosemann and Detlev Buck can also be seen in other roles.

On Saturday (from 8.15 p.m.) the RTL channel nitro will show a best-of program from Wednesday/Thursday and (from 21.05) from Friday. At 10.05 p.m. there will be New Model Army live with a time delay.
