Mexico wins first place in bachata festival

Puerto Plata.- The First World Bachata Festival held in the Dominican Republic, ADN Bachata World Festival, which took place over four days from November 17 to 20 in the province of Puerto Plata, with the participation of national and international dancers, concluded with the choice of the winning couples of this first version.

The first-place winning dancers were Mexican couple Juan Pedro Navarro and Diana Alducin, earning a $5,000 USD prize and guaranteed passes, flight, and hotel to the 2023 ADN Bachata World Festival to defend their title.

Second place went to Chris and Fabia from Chicago, and third place to the Dominican couple Swagger and Elizabeth from Las Terrenas.

The award ceremony and selection of the winners was held on Sunday, November 20 and was headed by Carlos Rodolí, president of the Association of Hotels and Tourism Companies of the North, Ashonorte, Víctor Minaya, president of ADN Films, and Rudi López , president of Island Touch and responsible for coordinating the dancers.

From the first day of the festival to participate, each couple executed a choreography and social dance.

The order to appear was chosen at random, taking place several rounds until reaching the final round, and several characteristics were taken into account when selecting the winning couples, such as choreography, technique, connection and presentation.

The judges responsible for selecting the winners were Ataca from Puerto Rico, Alemana from Germany and José Serrano from Puerto Rico, in choreography, Belén from Spain and Gaby from Mexico, in technique, Antoni from Spain, in connection, Alex Morel and Bianca Derival from the Dominican Republic in presentation.
