2017 was the end: no concerts, no exchange, no more new music. There was radio silence between Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary, who together form the duo Modeselektor, and Sascha Ring aka Apparat. There was talk of separation, the last concert played together and the end of the successful collaboration. But six years later everything is different, almost everything is the same.
The fact that there is now a new album by the electronic music supergroup “More D4ta” is neither a miracle nor was it planned well in advance, as Sascha Ring explains in the KURIER interview: “After our big Berlin show we have two years not spoken to each other. Not because we hated each other, but we had such a need to do something different, which just pushed us in completely different directions. At some point we started talking about music again.”
The creative process for the present album “More D4ta” was not easy, as you can read in the press release. When Sascha Ring is asked about it, he specifies the problems: “It was difficult to catch up on the five years in which you had no contact, to check where the others are. We really didn’t have much to do with each other for a long time, so you have to drink a few beers to get yourself back on track,” says the 43-year-old.
