The Velho do Rio (Osmar Prado) will be between life and death once again. The guardian of the natural beauties of the Pantanal will try to prevent a fire in the region, but will end up being burned by the flames. José Leôncio (Marcos Palmeira) will have a bad feeling, but it will soon pass. See if the Old Man from Rio will die or not.
Will an old man from Rio die in the soap opera Pantanal?
Velho do Rio is not going to die in the soap opera Pantanal, at least for now. In scenes scheduled to air at the end of June, the entity will see a farmer and his henchmen going to set fire to the forest. The father of all anacondas protects the beauties of the region and tries to prevent the fire from spreading, burning the vegetation and killing the animals.
However, he will eventually get hit by the flames and will agonize as his skin burns. Meanwhile, on the farm, José Leôncio will begin to feel a twinge in his chest and a great tiredness, which will make him worried. He also senses that something bad is happening.
Jove’s father (Jesuíta Barbosa) will resort to faith and will appear praying that the bad feeling and the tightness in his chest will pass soon.
The prayer will work: the Velho do Rio will turn into an anaconda and will be rescued by firefighters in the region, who will take him to an Animal Rehabilitation Center and receive the proper care.
This is the second time that the Velho do Rio is at risk. He has already been accidentally shot by Muda (Bella Campos) when he went to the tapera. The young woman tried to defend herself from the jaguar that was around the place, but ended up hitting the entity instead of the animal.
It was Trindade (Gabriel Sater) who took the bullet from his chest – this was the first appearance of the mysterious pawn in the novel.
End of Velho do Rio
José Leôncio spends years of his life trying to unravel the mystery about the disappearance of his father Joventino (Irandhir Santos) and also tries to find the Velho do Rio (Osmar Prado), who appears to several characters, except for him.
Frustrated with the failed attempts to find the Old Man, he even begins to doubt the entity’s existence. Zé is even more intrigued when he hears Trindade and Juma (Alanis Guillen) say that the father of all anacondas may be old Joventino.
The mystery is only solved in the final chapter of the novel. José Leôncio will marry Filó (Dira Paes) and the next day, after the union, he will feel severe pain in his chest. During the crises of pain, his soul will finally be reunited with that of his father, who reveals himself to be the Old Man of Rio.
He will tell his son everything that happened – he died during the marruás hunt after being bitten by a snake and his spirit became the entity that protects the Pantanal.
Zé dies of a heart attack, but his soul becomes the new Old Man of Rio. His father will say that from that day on, Zé Leôncio will have to take care of his children, grandchildren and the region, as he did all these years.
