ORF journalist and ex-director Günther Ziesel is dead

ORF journalist Günther Ziesel is dead. According to ORF Styria, he died on Thursday night at the age of 80. From 1960 to 2010, Ziesel worked as a radio and TV journalist in Graz and Vienna. Among other things, he presented the “ZiB2” and the “Press Hour”. In his home state, Ziesel was a ORF– State director active.


Ziesel also presented the entertainment show “TIP”, presenter of the “Europamagazin” and the Opera Ball, director and author of numerous TV documentaries – for example about the Special Olympics World Games – and even in retirement he was a passionate designer of the “Alpen-Danube -Adria Magazine”.

Honored in Styria

In 2017, Ziesel was awarded the Grand Decoration of Honor in Gold of the State of Styria, followed in April 2022 by the Great Decoration of Honor in Gold of the State of Styria with the star.
