The series Dune: The Sisterhood officially begins filming

It is Johan Renck, who will direct this serial spin-off of Denis Villeneuve’s film.

“On this day we start filming Dune: The Sisterhood for HBO Max.” Director Johan Renck (Chernobyl) announced yesterday on Instagram the start of production for the Dune spin-off series.

“Through machinations that take place millennia before the history you all know, we descend into the clan that will one day be called the Bene Gesserit“, he wrote in the caption of a photo that pays tribute to Frank Herbert. “Say it with me: ‘I must not be afraid. Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration…”

Dune: The Sisterhood will be a female spin-off of the film franchise, intended to serve as a complement to new films Dunes, telling the events of Frank Herbert’s novels through the eyes of the Bene Gesserit, this mysterious order composed of women. “The Bene Gesserit have always fascinated me. Devoting a series to them seemed not only relevant and inspiring, but also the perfect setting for a television series.” said Denis Villeneuve in 2019, when the project Dune: The Sisterhood was launched.

It is not yet known when the filming will take place, or if the series will be broadcast before Dune: Part Twowhich will be released on November 17, 2023 in cinemas.
