San Juan, (EFE) .- Rubén Figueroa Rodríguez, one of the most wanted men in Puerto Rico at the federal level for being part of the criminal organization of Carlos Cotto Cruz, better known as “Wasa”, was arrested this Tuesday by the authorities .
As detailed by the Police this Wednesday in a press release, Figueroa, better known as “Gordo”, was arrested by agents of the Special Arrests and Extraditions Division of the Police in the public residential (popular neighborhood) Vista Hermosa in San Juan.
Against Figueroa, 44, there was a federal arrest warrant for violations of multiple laws related to drug trafficking and weapons, the Police detailed in the statement.
The Puerto Rico Police, in turn, coordinated with the FBI on the island to assume custody of the subject.
Cotto, for his part, was the most wanted man by federal authorities, until he was arrested in May 2021 at a residence in Orocovis (downtown).
The arrest responded to a state arrest warrant for a double murder in San Lorenzo (southeast) on December 4.

At the time of the arrest, Cotto was seized ten kilos of cocaine, two kilos of heroin, marijuana, ammunition, chargers, a pistol altered to fire automatically (which is a federal crime) and about 260,000 dollars in cash, in addition of a luxury vehicle and motorcycle.
Federal authorities had offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to his capture.
The reward was offered by the federal Agency for Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Cotto was a leader within the drug trafficking organization known as “Las FARC” in San Juan.
