U2 star Bono: "I love Germany"

U2 singer bono Apparently thinks a lot of German politics. “This country has doubled its contribution to development work – I love Germany,” said the 62-year-old Irishman, who is very committed to poorer countries, to the audience on Wednesday evening at the Admiralspalast in Berlin. Here the rock star presented his autobiography “Surrender – 40 songs, one story” – the only German date for the work.

Formative Relationships

The audience included directors Wim Wenderscomedian Michael Mittemeier and Bono’s wife Ali Hewson. Bono told of his mother’s early death iris and pondered the implications of the loss. Two connections saved him, he said: to his wife and to the three other U2 members. He was musically supported during the presentation – in front of a minimalist stage set with his own illustrations – by a harpist, a cellist and a percussionist.
