He argued that the appreciation of the Dominican peso, which has helped mitigate inflation, is part of those revenues to the State coffers.

“But also the decrease in debt in relation to the Gross Domestic Product last year, approximately 7%, is due to growth and also to economic activities,” he explained to the government official.

Collado attributed the success of the recovery to the political decision of President Abinader and to the pillars of innovation, entrepreneurship, education and new destinations, which are the basis for the joint effort between the public and private sectors, which jointly ensure the guarantees and health protocols to ensure safe tourism.

“From the Cabinet of Tourism efforts will continue to be spared to increase this recovery because the multiplier effect of social and economic well-being of tourism in the country, we see it reflected in the smile of every Dominican,” he said.

He said that upon arrival at that position in 2020, as a result of covid-19, they found some 300,000 employees sent home, but that a process began for them to return to their workplaces.

He assured that the Dominican Republic has a total growth in the recovery of tourism and that proof of this is the recognition of the UNWTO.

The main actors of the Dominican business community and the highest representatives of government institutions gathered at the meeting, gathering more than 500 attendees.
