The Villa Francisca club was proclaimed champion of the National District Sub-25 basketball tournament, in an exciting match in which it defeated the Renacer club 75-73.
The clash was defined in the final minutes, at the Mauricio Báez club sports center, which was packed with fans and they observed exemplary conduct.
Villa Francisca swept the final series 2-0.
Villa Francisca took control of the match with a strong offense and good defense, but Renacer adjusted little by little and managed to tie the score.
Nerves took over the players of both teams and they made several mistakes, but they were able to react and begin to move the ball and score baskets with greater certainty.
The youngster Jonathan Bello once again slaughtered his opponents’ defense and scored 17 points and got 14 rebounds for a double-double. In the first match he scored 31 and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Also key in Villa Francisca’s victory were Oliver Bautista, with 15 and 12 rebounds; Emmanuel D, Oleo, 11 and José Valdez, 10.
For the losers, Eliezer Ramírez and Enmanuel Rodríguez, with 22 each and 11 and 10 rebounds, respectively.
The players, coaches, directors and fans of the Villa Francisco club received the Banreservas Cup that accredits them as champions of the U-25, a tournament that had a special dedication to Felipe -Fellito- Suberví, general director of the CAASD.
Neufris Pérez Vólquez, assistant to Fellito Suberví, presented the Banreservas Cup together with Diego Pesqueira, president of Abadina.
The final series was dedicated In memoriam to José Heredia Castillo, (Corporancito), former president of the Abadina.
