Netflix shares trailer for Sr., Robert Downey Jr.’s documentary about his father

A few days earlier, the Iron Man interpreter already had a very short haircut during the Hollywood premiere of Sr., the documentary he dedicated to his father on Netflix. On the arm of his wife, producer Susan Downey, he caused a sensation, smiling at the photographers as usual and answering questions from journalists present on the red carpet.

What role did Robert Downey Jr. shave his head for?

Why did you choose this change of look? Simply for filming the HBO miniseries The Sympathizerwhich has been taking place since September in Los Angeles under the direction of Park Chan-Wook (Old Boy, Decision to Leave). Filming is also to take place in Vietnam, which is not surprising given its pitch: this satirical spy thriller, also mixing a love story and socio-political criticism, will follow the struggles of a half-French, half-Vietnamese communist spy during the final days of the Vietnam War and his exile in the United States. It is a 7-part adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Viet Thanh Nguyen. RDJ will play three roles, each representing a different branch of the“establishment” American: a conservative congressman from California, a CIA agent and a Hollywood war movie director. He will be surrounded for this series by a cast mainly of Asian origin: Sandra Oh (Killing Eve), Hoa Xuande (Woboy Bebop), Kieu Chinh (MASH), Alan Trong (The Tomorrow War) and Toan Le (big foot), but also BJ Minor (Mike on Hulu).

The Sympathizer, which is also co-produced by Park Chan-Wook, Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey, and whose second showrunner is Don McKellar (Blindness, The Red Violin…) does not yet have a release date.

Decision to Leave: the brilliance of the mirror scene, which drives moviegoers crazy!
