The Dominican Electricity Transmission Company (ETED) restarted the construction work of the Villa Altagracia Substation 138/69 / 12.5 kV (kilovolts), in order to improve voltage levels and provide a better electrical service to citizens in San Cristobal.
” The construction of this substation is part of the goals of the National Development Strategy, in order to solve the problems of the electricity sector and comply with the General Electricity Law in terms of improving the quantity and quality of the energy supply ” , explained the general administrator of the ETED, Ing. Martín Robles Morillo.
With an investment of RD $ 91,206,047 (ninety-one million, two hundred six thousand, forty-seven Dominican pesos), this infrastructure will contribute to improving power flows through the different elements of the National Interconnected Electric System (SENI), they will be reduced the levels of technical losses produced by the excessive heating of the conductors. In addition, it will support the 69 kV system in the area between Palamara and Bonao.
The engineer Robles explained that, with this project, the Electricity Distribution Companies (EDE) will be able to extract energy from the high voltage networks and improve the quality of the energy supply in the Villa Altagracia area and surrounding towns, as well as facilitate the change voltage from 4.16 kV to 12.5 kV.
In addition, this work ensures a stable, competitive and continuous electricity supply, both financially and environmentally. This and other construction projects are an example of ETED’s commitment to provide a quality service in SENI, meeting the demand of the population and the productive sectors of the country.
