The Pro League has rejected AS Eupen’s request to postpone the match of the 22nd match day in the Jupiler Pro League at home against Cercle Brugge on Sunday (4 p.m.). The Pandas reported that on Friday. Earlier Friday, Eupen announced that it was struggling with a strong outbreak of the corona virus just before the resumption of the Jupiler Pro League after the winter break. No fewer than fourteen players and two staff members tested positive at the club from the East Cantons.

The individuals involved went into quarantine immediately after the test results came in, Eupen reported. Due to the high number of infected players, the team requested that the league match against Cercle Brugge be postponed, but that request was not received by the Pro League.
“The Pro League has rejected our request and justifies its decision with the fact that the infected players do not include at least seven players who have played a third of the playing time so far this season,” Eupen explains. “At the moment, the regulations stipulate that a match can only be postponed if seven players or more are absent due to corona who played at least a third of the playing minutes, or if the first two goalkeepers are infected.”
Eupen is in twelfth place in the Jupiler Pro League with 25 points.
