Facebook suspended former US President Donald Trump’s account until early 2023, MTI writes.
After the expiration of the ban, experts will be used to assess whether the presence of the politician-businessman is still a threat to public safety.
Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube blocked Trump’s account after supporters of the then president besieged the U.S. Legislature building on January 6 after an incendiary speech. Five were killed in the clashes.
Facebook has locked Trump’s account until further notice. He then asked his supervisory board to examine the legality of the move. The panel pointed out that Facebook’s rules do not allow accounts to be suspended indefinitely and asked community officials to reconsider their decision. The result is a two-year ban.
