I am still excited and, I confess one thing, I have cried like everyone here, so said Army General Raúl Castro Ruz to the children of La Colmenita, that on the night of this November 25, when they were fulfilled five years after the physical departure of the Commander-in-Chief, they had the beautiful responsibility of inaugurating the Fidel Castro Ruz Center with their art.
“You have made us cry, with your art, with your patriotism and with your teachers,” Raúl confessed after finishing the play “Fidel, speak … I need you!”, Which under the direction of Carlos Alberto “Tin” Cremata tells the story of a group of children who go to the Sierra Maestra in what they called a “Guerrilla for History”, to ultimately meet the life of the Commander in Chief.
With that shocking staging, in which the children also dream about the place where the many knowledge and memories of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution would finally be organized, the Centro Fidel Castro Ruz, a beautiful and modern institution, located on 11th Street and Paseo, in the capital’s Vedado neighborhood.
“We feel great pride for all of you, for this first Colmenita and for all those that have been created in many places,” said Raúl surrounded by those boys who minutes before had shocked the auditorium of the Turquino Amphitheater with songs, shocking texts and images of that Fidel to whom, as they themselves said in their work, there was only one way to truly approach him: with the heart.
And that was what La Colmenita did this cold night during a memorable evening, in which Present were the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, leaders and heroes of the Cuban Revolution, as well as relatives and friends of Fidel, among them the Brazilian theologian Frei Betto.
As in other works by the La Colmenita Children’s Theater Company – and what evidently gives meaning to the art made by the children of Tin – they again looked for the essences: “that ultimate truth, the most important thing, the filling of the silhouette that we see in everything”. This time they went to the essences of an exceptional being, who could tame time, and do and do.
“We will never forget this activity, which has been the most exciting thing I have seen in my life,” revealed the Army General minutes before leaving the Fidel Castro Ruz Center, which tonight opened its doors with the mission of studying and spreading his thoughts , work, life and example. A place that was born in Cuba so that we all get closer, from the heart, to one of the greatest men in its history.
