At 14 years and 15 days, he is the youngest ever professional player in the United States. He is 153 days younger than Freddy Adu, who became the youngest professional player in January 2004 when he signed with DC United. Adu was announced at the time as a top talent with a great future, but his career never got off the starting blocks. After wandering around with fifteen employers, at the age of 32 he has been without a club for almost a year and his career seems to be gradually over. In 18 years he did not go further than 241 games.

“Over the past year, Axel has proven to be one of the biggest attacking prospects in the country,” said Salt Lake City, Utah, manager Elliot Fall. “What he’s showing in the goal area is unprecedented for someone his age. He can become a top scorer in our league.”

Kei was born in Ivory Coast, grew up in Brazil and settled in San Diego in 2017 with his family. His father was a professional football player in the Brazilian league.
