Winning all three morning special races, Simos Galatariotis / Antonis Ioannou leads the Rally Cyprus in the middle of the first day of the race. In second place 27.9 seconds behind are Alexandros Tsouloftas / Stelios Elias and in third place Nasser Al Attiyah / Matthieu Baumel, 46.9 seconds behind the leaders.
The difference built by the Cypriot crew is significant, given that the total length of the routes was 47.47km. All three pioneers drive the Volkswagen Polo GTi. The order of ranking of the first three was the same in all three routes.
In fourth place are Demosthenes / Paul (Skoda Fabia), followed by Al Rawahi / Hmoud (Ford Fiesta) and Yagou / English (Hyundai i20). In the MERC 2 category, the first are Savva / Papandreou (Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX). In the category of cars with two-wheel drive at the front are the Televantos / Stavrou (Peugeot 208).
The cars returned for service in Aglantzia before repeating the morning routes, namely Nikitari (14:12), Kapouras (14:50) and Kourdali (15:48), to return for the big, 45-minute service of the day at 17:28 .
The start of the 49th Cyprus Rally was given on Friday night (24/9) from the building of the Old Town Hall in Eleftherias Square.
