“On Monday morning around 3 a.m. Game Mania was hit by a ransomware attack,” it said in a press release. “The perpetrators had access to a server that contains various company information, including personal data. This concerns general personal data such as name, address, e-mail address and telephone number. Passwords and payment details were reportedly not compromised.
“If hackers have personal data, there is a chance that they will sell it,” Game Mania said. “As a result, there is a risk that cyber criminals will contact you via email or text message asking for money or to change your password. If a message seems suspicious, do not respond to it, but report it to [email protected] We are currently investigating the situation and are trying to rectify it as soon as possible.
