General Motors: rejects union interference by Canadian leader

Irapuato, Guanajuato.- The workers dand General Motors who seek to form the payroll in the affiliation process to be the company union, rejected and disapproved of the interference of the union leader of the UNIFOR – CANADA, Gerry Dias, who is supposedly favoring another independent union and with which he would benefit.

Members of the list commented on the meeting of General Motors with the National Union of Workers and Employees of the Automotive Industry, Construction, Automotive Industry, Auto Parts, Similar and Related of the Mexican Republic.

Last Monday, November 22, a working meeting was held between GM managers and the union (..) with the purpose of informing them that in use of our legitimate right we are participating in the process of affiliation of workers for the obtaining proof of representativeness for the negotiation of the GM Silao CCT. ”, they mentioned.

They disclosed that General Motors workers affiliated with the CTM union, they reject the interference of the union representative of UNIFOR-CANADA.

To obtain the collective bargaining agreement at GM Silao, as he himself has made known in various media, using as a banner a supposed labor justice and a negative signal towards our labor union, the CTM, ”he said.

They noted that the Canadian union leader seeks to alter job stability and peace to transfer the production of some vehicles from GM Silao to the Oshawa, Canada plant.

They warned that the situation is obvious, as they point out that GM’s Oshawa Canada plant to restart operations announced for the manufacture of the Chevrolet Silverado which is manufactured at GM Silao.

It can result in the loss of hundreds of jobs, not only of our fellow GM Silao workers, but also of the companies that are part of the automotive cluster ”, they explained.

They asked the corresponding authorities to apply sanctions for violations of interference by foreign trade union organizations.
