NEW YORK (AP) – James Harden seemed to need urgent rest, even before explaining how he felt.

“Tired,” he said. “Exhausted”.

And it wasn’t just because he had just played a basketball game.

The Nets were worn down by a very demanding stretch of the season, packed with travel, before running into the Thunder.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 33 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists to flirt with the triple-double and lead Oklahoma City to a 130-109 win over Brooklyn on Thursday.

Lu Dort had 27 points and rookie point guard Josh Giddey added 19 points for the Thunder, who took advantage of the Nets’ fatigue and snapped a five-game losing streak.

Oklahoma City had not won a single game in 2022. The Thunder had not won a win since defeating New York on Dec. 31.

But on a night when NBA leading scorer Kevin Durant rested, the Thunder had a comfortable lead for much of the final three quarters, improving to a 14-27 record when they have played half of their games in this campaign.

“I think we just kept this going,” said Darius Bazley. “Shai got off to a crazy start. Lu was very good. We were shooting with all the energy possible ”.

Oklahoma City achieved its best stat of the season, hitting 20 triples and adding 32 assists.

Harden had 26 points, nine assists and seven rebounds for the Nets, who ran out of energy a day after beating the Bulls 138-112 in Chicago.

Brooklyn had Kyrie Irving in that game against the leaders of the Eastern Conference, but the story was different on Thursday, as the player cannot perform in New York, given that he has not been vaccinated against the coronavirus.
