Zurich – The world association also announced the names of the candidates for other categories on Monday. All winners will be announced on January 17, 2022 in a virtual TV show at FIFA headquarters in Zurich.
In the multiple world footballers Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal / now Manchester United) and Lionel Messi (Argentina / now Paris Saint-Germain, Mohamed Salah (Egypt / Liverpool FC) and other superstars, the currently injured Dortmund Haaland and Munich’s top scorer Lewandowski have Top-class competition: There is not a single professional from the country of European Championship finalist England on the FIFA shortlist.

The best players, coaches and goalkeepers of the 2020/21 season will be chosen. The Fair Play and Fan Award and the Puskas Award for Goal of the Year are also given. Due to the corona pandemic, the event has to take place as a virtual show.
The period for voting is from November 22nd to December 10th. The national team coaches and their captains, journalists and fans vote in a combined election about the best players and coaches. dpa
