The police seized more than 50 animals in Magdeburg that were kept under deplorable conditions.
Salbke/Ottersleben – the police and the Magdeburg city administration have seized over 50 animals in an apartment and on a garden plot in the Magdeburg districts of Salbke and Ottersleben.
The animals are said to have been kept there under poor and unworthy conditions.
The city of Magdeburg announced on Tuesday that 14 of the 41 chickens discovered should have been euthanized. Another four chickens perished.
The remaining 23 chickens, one duck and nine dogs were housed in the animal shelter and in boarding houses.

The reason for the searches, which were carried out by the police, was reportedly the suspicion of tax evasion because of several undeclared dogs.
Officials from the police, public order office and veterinary office were involved in the operation.
In the aftermath of the searches, it will now be checked whether further measures by the regulatory authority must be initiated against the keeper.
Among other things, it is about the fact that the poultry was not registered by the owner under animal health law.
