You could see it coming. I was walking a tightrope and the inevitable finally happened: Hernán Crespo stopped being the technical director of San Pablo. The relationship of Valdanito and the São Paulo team did not give for more, and after more than seven months in office, the Argentine made the decision to leave after the team added five games without winning (13th in the Brasileirao).
Crespo in the Tricolor.
The club announced it through an official statement. “San Pablo informs that Hernán Crespo leaves the technical commandor the team this Wednesday. The decision was made from mutual agreement after a conversation between the coach and the Tricolor board ”, says the text.
And he closes with words of gratitude for Crespo and his collaborators, who cut a long drought of titles: “San Pablo thanks the professionals for their work and dedication demonstrated throughout the period in which they defended our colors, and by winning the state title, a triumph that has not been achieved since 2005 ”.

What will be the future of Crespo? The former Defense and Justice coach, champion of the 2020 South American Cup, plays in two great teams in Argentina. But the market is so tyrant that one of them has a coach and the other an interim: San Lorenzo and Racing.
It is known that Crespo has been a fan of San Lorenzo since his childhood and his heart could make him choose Boedo for Avellaneda. But Paolo Montero has two games ahead that will define his future: River and Lanús. If the Uruguayan coach comes out victorious (or at least well stopped) of these commitments, he will continue to lead the Barça team at least until December.
Meanwhile, the one who waits is Racing. While Víctor Blanco maintains the dream of hiring Guillermo Barros Schelotto (it seems impossible because he has offers from Brazil and the Paraguayan team), now the name of Crespo has emerged. The sports project -and the times- could be key for Valdanito to prefer the diver from La Academia. But for now it seems like a “plan b” for December than a political and sporting decision of the Racing leaders to hire him now. We will have to wait.
Crespo’s numbers in San Pablo
The ex Banfield and Defending He directed 57 games in the Brazilian set, of which won 24, drew 21 and lost 12. He was also champion of the Paulista championship, defeating Palmeiras 2-0 in the final. With that tournament, Crespo cut an eight-year streak without Olympic laps for El Tri (the last one had been due to the controversy South American 2012, versus Tiger).

The 46-year-old Argentine had had a great start to the cycle. In the first months he enjoyed a undefeated in 14 games and he put the bow with the obtaining of the regional contest. But in recent times everything went downhill: of the last 10 matches he only won one, something that condemned the San Pablo to be below the middle of the table. Currently, he is 13th in the Brasileirao, with 30 points. In 25 games he won six, drew 12 and fell in seven.
In addition, he was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Libertadores (for Palmeiras) and the Brazil Cup (for Fortaleza).

This Thursday, El Tri will host Ceará, but it will do so without Argentines on the bench. Along with Crespo, the others who left the institution were Juan Branda (assistant coach), Alejandro Kohan and Gustavo Sato (physical trainers), Gustavo Nepote (goalkeeping coach) and Tobías Kohan (performance analyst).
